The Three Components of the Service

Peer Research Reports
The first component of this membership is a series of peer research reports. These reports are based on interviews with IR executives from other top corporations, focusing on how they manage their functions and fulfill their responsibilities. Each report features numerous charts, graphs, and other key metrics. The reports focus on major topics of particular importance to a senior-level IR executive. They would include: targeting investors, incorporating new technology such as AI, managing crisis communications, top IR performance benchmarks and metrics, reporting to the Board, guidance and earnings; and more. In addition, reports would include sample uses of artificial intelligence, policy statements, internal correspondence, sample strategy documents, and IR job descriptions. These and other tools provide best practices and save IR executives the time of creating them on their own.

Peer Group Meetings
Most meetings are held in person to facilitate meaningful peer interaction and networking. These gatherings bring together IR executives from top U.S. and global firms, offering a valuable opportunity to exchange insights on what works—and what doesn’t—in their roles. Each meeting includes a presentation of findings from a recent research report, followed by group discussion. The format also allows time for introductions, informal networking, and collaborative input on topics for future reports and meetings. The insights and materials from these meetings are intended to be shared with senior leaders at participating firms—especially CEOs, CFOs, and their teams—as a resource to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Personal & Staff Briefings
IR executives who miss a meeting have the opportunity to request a personal staff briefing by a member of the IR forum staff. That would include a review of the research presentation and of the discussion at the meeting. In addition, the IR executive could request a briefing for his or her staff or for the CEO/CFO.
Frequently asked questions

What are the criteria to becoming a member of the IRLF?
The member candidate must be an investor relations executive with a Fortune 500 company or a Forbes Global 2000 company.
What services can I expect as a member?
There are three major components to the service (1) peer research reports (2) peer group interactive networking meetings, and (3) personal and staff briefings.
How are the research reports different from those issued by other firms?
The reports are based on interviews and documents provided by top investor relations executives based on proven experience and best practices.
Is there much time devoted to networking at group meetings?
Yes. At the meetings, the research leader presents the findings of the report for discussion to the group. There is substantial time devoted to informal interactions among group members.
What happens if I cannot attend a meeting?
If you miss a meeting, you may arrange for a senior member of the staff to schedule a personal briefing on the research and the meeting discussion. You may include your staff in the briefing.
How does the membership work and what is the fee?
The membership is in the name of the company so it can be passed along to a different person if the IR executive leaves or is moved to another position. It runs annually from the date membership begins. Contact our staff for details on the fee.
Can more than one person from a company attend the peer group meetings?
Two from a firm may attend provided they are managerial level IR executives or the CFO.
